CeeDee Lamb Shatters Cowboys Record in Unbelievable Race to 500 Catches—Who’s Really the Greatest?

The Dallas Cowboys have hit the ground sprinting this season — and honestly, it’s hard not to get a little excited watching CeeDee Lamb in full flight. By halftime of that electrifying Thursday night clash with the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas had already piled up 20 points, with Lamb hauling in four catches for a hefty 86 yards. But here’s the real kicker: that fourth catch wasn’t just another grab; it made Lamb the quickest Cowboy ever to notch 500 receptions, achieving the feat in just 82 games. We’re talking about joining the ranks of legends like Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant, and Jason Witten — but getting there faster than any of them. Sure, the defense was shaky — especially with Micah Parsons out the door — and the Eagles grabbed the halftime lead, but if Dallas wants to stay in the hunt this season, they’re going to need their offense — and Lamb — to keep hitting high gear. Keep your eyes peeled; this might just be the start of a historic run. LEARN MORE

The Dallas Cowboys offense is off and running.

CeeDee Lamb is a big reason why. And now he has a new spot in the Cowboys’ record book.

By halftime of Thursday’s NFL kickoff between the Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas had racked up 20 points. Lamb was a big reason why, with four catches for 86 yards at the break.

It’s a list that includes prolific pass catchers Michael Irvin, Dez Bryant and tight end Jason Witten, who leads the all-time franchise list with 1,215 career catches. But none of them got to 500 faster than Lamb, who projects for a big season in 2025 on a Cowboys offense that’s expected to score a lot of points.

Unfortunately for the Cowboys, Lamb’s and his teammates’ offensive production wasn’t enough to secure a halftime lead. A shaky Dallas defense reeling in the aftermath of the Micah Parsons trade was no match for an Eagles offense that racked up 216 yards en route to a 21-20 halftime lead.

The Cowboys are going to need to lean on their offense to stay competitive this season. Expect Lamb to continue to etch his name into the team’s record book.
