The Celtics were overthrowing for the first two games. Instead of recognizing they were at their best when everybody touched the ball, they would find a matchup they liked and isolate it. Thatâs fine if you have elite isolation players but thatâs not what makes Tatum special.
In Games 1 and 2, the number of one-pass possessions for the Celtics were too high. In Game 3, it was clearly a point of emphasis for Joe Mazzula to involve his whole offense. When the Celtics got the switches they wanted, they attacked them with drives to the rim and kick outs when the help came instead of step-back jumpers.
