Chad Johnson Drops Surprising QB Challenge for Saints Fans—Are They Ready for the Truth?

Picture this: Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson—yes, the same electrifying former All-Pro wide receiver known for his flair and fire—throws a curveball to Saints fans by asking a simple, yet stomach-churning question: how optimistic are you about Spencer Rattler stepping up as the team’s starting quarterback? The Saints, already stumbling through a less-than-ideal quarterback carousel, just lost Derek Carr to an abrupt retirement, leaving a gaping hole wrapped in uncertainty. Rattler’s journey from touted college star to a guy who hasn’t quite silenced his doubters makes you wonder—are the Saints clutching at straws or onto something promising? And let’s not forget rookie Tyler Shough, quietly making waves and possibly stealing the spotlight. So here we are, standing at the crossroads of hope and skepticism—will Rattler rise to the occasion, or is this just another chapter in New Orleans’ quarterback saga? The question isn’t just about talent—it’s about faith, patience, and, honestly, a little bit of Saints’ magic.

The New Orleans Saints have a big problem on their hands right now.

Their quarterback situation was subpar at best, even before Derek Carr suddenly announced his retirement.

But now that Carr is no longer in the picture, their remaining options aren’t that encouraging.

With that in mind, former NFL star WR Chad ‘Ochocinco’ Johnson took to X to ask the fans how they felt about Spencer Rattler being the starter.

Rattler was once considered to be a potential NFL star.

His college journey, however, didn’t go as planned, and his draft stock continued to plummet by the day.

Fast forward to today, and he hasn’t done much to silence the critics.

Granted, he hasn’t been in the league for that long, and he’s still a young player, but it just doesn’t feel like he has it in him.

Rookie QB Tyler Shough outplayed him off the bench in the first preseason game, and despite being a first-year player with a long history of injuries, even he looks like a safer bet at this point.

The Saints brought in former QB and offensive coordinator Kellen Moore to take the reins of the project after years of struggles under Dennis Allen’s tutelage.

Shough drew rave reviews in his final year in college, and he has the arm talent to do better than Rattler.

So, even though the former Oklahoma quarterback might be penciled in as the starter to begin the year, it wouldn’t be shocking to see him lose his spot sooner rather than later.
