For years, the Green Bay Packers have hoped that Christian Watson would turn out to be a star.

He has shown flashes of strong play, but injuries have constantly gotten in the way.

That’s why he’s not thinking about putting up big numbers of scoring touchdowns right now.

If anything, he just wants to be out there.

When asked his goals for his impending return, the former second-round pick opened up about his desire to get and, more importantly, stay healthy:

“Honestly, my goal for coming back to play is whenever I feel like I’ve put in the work enough and I’m confident after getting the team reps, getting the live reps and there are no setbacks,” Watson said. “I want to get back and have felt 100 percent and continue to feel 100 percent. That’s my main thing. I’m not setting too much of a target date, this week or anything. It’s really just as soon as I feel like I’m 100 percent and ready to go is when I’ll play.”

Watson’s talent and physical tools are undeniable.

But with his history of injuries, the Packers did the right thing to build for the future.

They took Texas speedster Matthew Golden in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft, hoping that he’d be their WR1 once and for all.

However, the first-year pass-catcher is still a little raw.

The Packers gave Watson a one-year contract extension, proving that they still have faith in him and believe he can be a factor on the team.

That should be the case as long as he’s healthy.
