College Football’s Bold New Move: Jersey Ads Set to Shake Up the Game Forever
With money driving major college sports more than ever before, one SEC program is reportedly hoping to get a leg up on NIL funding by adding advertisements to their jerseys.
According to NOLA.com, the LSU Tigers are looking into stitching wearable ads onto the school’s uniforms— barring NCAA approval. Which LSU projects would generate “multiple millions of dollars a year” for the university.
“LSU has mapped out where the patches would go on every jersey, from cross country to football. Most of them would appear on the chest in purple and gold,” the publication wrote. Adding that the Tigers want to do it in a fairly tasteful way to avoid having “some crazy, NASCAR-like situation.”
