Could Jordan Love’s Season Collapse Without This Unseen Secret Weapon?

Could Jordan Love's Season Collapse Without This Unseen Secret Weapon?

Isn’t it something how a single player’s absence can turn the whole rhythm of a team upside down? As the Green Bay Packers gear up for a crucial divisional clash this Sunday, all eyes will be on Jordan Love—but not necessarily for all the right reasons. Without the powerhouse presence of Josh Jacobs pounding the ground, Love’s stat sheet takes a nosedive—completion percentages dipping, passer rating dropping—leaving us to wonder: can Love truly carry the offense’s heavy burden solo? The Packers’ offensive line has been a sieve this season, and now, with Jacobs sidelined, the Vikings’ defense might just have a field day. Yet, there’s a curious silver lining here—when Love’s forced to break free and launch those vertical strikes, the offense has shown sparks of brilliance. So, will this adversity become Love’s moment of liberation or just another nail in the Packers’ coffin? The stakes couldn’t be higher, and honestly, I’m as riveted as any fan watching this fascinating chess match unfold at Lambeau Field.

The Green Bay Packers will face a tough challenge on Sunday. Divisional games are tough as it is, and not having Josh Jacobs out there could make things even tougher.

At least, that’s how NFL analyst James Palmer feels. Ahead of the clash with the Minnesota Vikings, he shared a worrisome stat about Jordan Love when he doesn’t have his star running back by his side:

“Also keep an eye on how the absence of Josh Jacobs impacts Jordan Love: Love’s completion % goes from a 73.4% to 60.2% and his passer rating goes from a 118.7 to a 82.5 when Jacobs isn’t on the field,” Palmer posted on X.

The Packers have failed to get anything going on the ground this season. The offensive line hasn’t created running lanes, and it’s become painfully evident that they will have to address that unit in the offseason.

Jacobs has constantly been hit behind or at the line of scrimmage, and the sole fact that he still averages nearly four yards per carry is only a testament to his greatness. Now, with him out, Brian Flores can focus on the quarterback with his exotic blitz packages a little more.

However, this could also be a blessing in disguise for this team. The Packers’ offense has looked much better when Jordan Love has been given more freedom, and they resort to the vertical passing game.

They might not have much of a choice on Sunday. As good as Emanuel Wilson has been as a backup, he’s a backup nonetheless.

This team needs to close out the season on a high note to have a chance to win their tough division. And even though it won’t be easy, especially being undermanned, they simply can’t afford to drop this divisional game on Sunday.
