Could Texas A&M’s Next Star Already Be Waiting in the Transfer Portal?
The 2026 college basketball transfer portal will open on Tuesday, April 7, and heading into his second season at the helm, Texas A&M coach Bucky McMillan will need to land five or more portal players to have a shot at making it back to the NCAA Tournament, especially adding more size to the front court, and a another scoring guard who can take over a game at any given moment.
So far, senior guard Josh Holloway is the only player on the 2025-2026 roster to enter the portal, and while several names could be next, McMillan and his staff are focused on retaining a majority of the roster and are guaranteed to return forward Mackenzie Mgbako, who missed all but a handful of non-conference games before SEC play began.
