Could Texas A&M’s Star QB Secure the Coveted Golden Arm Award This Season?
As the 2025 college football season unfurled, one name kept popping up in my mind whenever Texas A&M’s offense took the field: Marcel Reed. Honestly, I was curious—just how much had this young QB improved over the offseason? Turns out, the answer is a whole lot more than anyone expected. Marcel’s been making waves, transforming himself into a bona fide Heisman contender. Texas A&M even rolled out the red carpet with a whole “Marcel Mode” website to spotlight his candidacy, while Reed himself nabbed a nod as a Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award finalist—a trophy that honors not just talent, but leadership and character. With stats that put him in elite company nationally—top 10 in touchdowns and yards per play, top 20 in passing yards—this guy’s not just playing; he’s commanding the spotlight. And with Senior Day at Kyle Field coming up against Samford, the stage is set for Marcel to keep writing his story. Ready to dive deeper into his remarkable journey?
Coming into the 2025 football season, the central question on the offensive side of the ball was how much Marcel Reed had progressed during the offseason. It turns out he made significant strides toward becoming the player he is today.
The Heisman campaign is now in full swing, with Texas A&M unveiling “Marcel Mode,” a website designed to make the case for Reed as one of the award’s finalists. It was also recently announced that he has been named a Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award finalist. Reed is currently ranked in the top 10 nationally in total touchdowns (28), yards per completion (14.7), and yards per play (8.2), while also ranking in the top 20 in passing yards (2,632).

Texas A&M will return to Kyle Field this weekend for Senior Day to face Samford, just one week after its historic comeback victory over the Gamecocks. Kickoff against the Bulldogs is scheduled for 11 a.m. CT and will be broadcast live on SEC Network+.
