
Could the NCAA Finally Shatter Its Betting Ban? Inside the Controversial Proposal Shaking College Sports
The current ban on professional sports betting for NCAA athletes and coaches includes football, basketball, hockey, baseball, golf and tennis, among other things.
However, according to Sports Illustrated, the NCAA recently voted to “adopt legislation to deregulate the prohibition on wagering on professional sports.”
The change includes the NCAA being “directed…to develop concepts for the appropriate committees to consider regarding a safe harbor, limited immunity or reduced penalties for student-athletes who engage in sports wagering but seek help for problem gambling.”
