Dan Orlovsky Drops Shocking Critique on Caleb Williams – What He Said Will Surprise You!

So here we are again, staring at Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams, wondering if he’s a budding star trapped in limbo or if the hype from the 2024 draft was just wishful thinking. I mean, how many times can you watch a QB hold the ball like it’s a hot potato before you start questioning if patience is just a cruel joke? Through 24 career starts, Williams’s struggles — especially under new head coach Ben Johnson — haven’t just lingered; they’ve stubbornly etched themselves into the narrative, sparking worry rather than hope. Is it too soon to ask why a guy with such promise looks like he’s running in quicksand? Sunday’s 30-16 drubbing by the Ravens was less a one-off misstep and more a frustrating reminder: processing speed and decision-making are still homework he hasn’t quite finished. And, yes, former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky just tossed gasoline on that smoldering fire, spotlighting how Williams’s hesitation in the pocket is piling up fast — more 3+ second time-to-throw plays than Jared Goff in years. The real kicker? This is all happening with one of the sharpest offensive minds now calling the plays. Fans and analysts alike are left pondering — can Caleb flip the script before Chicago’s playoff dreams dissolve, or is this a cautionary tale in the making? Let’s dig into what’s really holding back one of football’s most talked-about talents.

Concerns about Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams have intensified as his struggles continue into his second season.

The issues are no longer limited to growing pains or adjustments to professional football.

Through 24 career starts, the same problems keep appearing without signs of meaningful progress.

Sunday’s 30-16 loss to the Baltimore Ravens offered another example of Williams failing to execute at the level expected from a former first overall pick.

His processing speed and decision-making remain significant areas of concern.

Former NFL quarterback Dan Orlovsky recently pointed to a troubling trend that has emerged under head coach Ben Johnson’s system.

“This is still an issue: Caleb already has more 3+ second time-to-throw games under Ben Johnson (6) than Jared Goff did (5 in 3 years),” Orlovsky posted on X.

Williams entered the season with considerable expectations after the Bears paired him with Johnson, widely regarded as one of the league’s top offensive minds.

The combination was supposed to accelerate his development and unlock the potential that made him the top selection in the 2024 draft.

Instead, the results have been underwhelming through eight starts under the new coaching staff.

Williams ranks 24th among 33 qualified quarterbacks in completion rate at 61.9 percent.

His overall passer rating of 90.2 ranks 20th among qualifying passers.

Other quarterbacks from the 2024 draft class, including Jayden Daniels, Drake Maye, and Bo Nix, have already outshone him in overall performances.

Williams continues to hold the ball too long in the pocket and shows hesitation before the snap.

His inability to recognize defensive back closing speed has led to additional turnovers.

Chicago’s playoff hopes depend on Williams correcting these fundamental issues quickly.
