The Houston Texans‘ offense has been struggling this season.
Outside of an explosion against the Baltimore Ravens’ bottom-feeding defense, the Texans have been one of the worst in the league.
Fans are worried about C.J. Stroud’s seemingly endless regression, and they wonder whether the team should commit to the quarterback for the long run.
Although, to be fair, he’s had to play behind terrible offensive lines the past two seasons.
On the other hand, Houston’s defense is an entirely different story.
Head coach DeMeco Ryans has made a huge impact, which is why ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky believes the Texans could be the best in the NFL on that side of the ball.
“Houston is the best unit defensively that doesn’t get talked about enough,” Orlovsky said.

The former NFL quarterback shared a clip to back up his sentiment, and it’s hard to disagree with anything he said.
Through the first five games, the Texans’ defense ranks third in total yards allowed per game and has been strong against both the pass and the run.
Most importantly, they lead the NFL in points allowed per game by a significant margin.
Granted, they have played some subpar offensive teams, such as the Tennessee Titans and the Ravens without Lamar Jackson.
But they held the Los Angeles Rams to 14 points, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to 20 points, and the Jacksonville Jaguars to 17 points in three losses.
There’s plenty of talent on the Houston defense, and if the offense can give Stroud some protection, the team can turn things around.
