The New England Patriots are riding a league-best seven-game winning streak. Drake Maye overcame some early-season jitters to prove not only is he the right man for the job, but also that he can be a true superstar in the league.
While head coach Mike Vrabel deserves a lot of credit for New England’s turnaround, and the front office did a solid job improving the roster, the second-year quarterback has been spectacular this season. He’s undoubtedly an NFL MVP candidate.
Matthew Stafford, on the other hand, might be playing his best football for the Los Angeles Rams. That’s a lot to say for someone who’s closing in on two decades in the league.
Stafford is playing with the confidence of a quarterback who has seen every type of coverage. He’s slinging the ball downfield and making huge throws at every level, and the Rams have emerged as a Super Bowl favorite.
In fact, Maye and Stafford might go toe-to-toe in the final game of the season. That would certainly be an epic battle of new school against old school.
