Deion Sanders Drops Unexpected Health Bombshell That Could Change Everything

Deion Sanders has been off the grid this spring and early summer, sidelined by a mysterious health issue that’s kept the Colorado head coach from his usual sideline swagger. But here’s the kicker—he’s not just hanging in there; he’s inching closer to a full comeback, stepping into the weighted vest and hustling back to form alongside his team. It’s got me thinking: if Coach Prime’s determination to heal matches the fire his Buffaloes bring to the field, can anyone really keep him down for long? With a history that includes battling severe blood clots and echoing triumphs both on and off the gridiron—plus the heartwarming backing of his son Deion Jr.—Sanders is gearing up to light up stadiums once again. The road to recovery might be unscripted, but one thing’s clear: this comeback story doesn’t have a timeout in sight. LEARN MORE

An unspecified health issue has kept Colorado head coach Deion Sanders out of action for most of the spring and early summer as his football team keeps working. But a new health update indicates that he’s mending nicely.

Over the past few days, Sanders has been hinting that he’s getting closer and closer to full health. A couple of days ago, he shared a sponsored post that included a photo of him wearing a weighted vest.

“1 step closer Everyday, I’m Walking it out! Our Team is working their butts off therefore I’ve got to match that 🔥they have! #CoachPrime @redcon1 gave me what I needed!” he wrote on Thursday.

On Saturday, Coach Prime made another post when announced that he’s “coming to a stadium sold out soon.” He thanked his eldest son Deion Jr. for supporting him in every step of his recovery.

#Every little step I take My son @deionsandersjr has been there so we’ve decided to keep on stepping! #CoachPrime coming to a stadium sold out soon. @welloffforever.”

It’s not clear what the health issue was that’s been keeping Sanders home for so long, but he has been dealing with a slew of health issues over the past few years so it could be almost anything.

Back in 2021 he had to deal with severe blood clots that caused him to get two toes amputated. There was a risk that he might lose the foot entirely, but he was able to overcome the issue.

Fans on social media were delighted to see that Coach Prime appears to be on the mend:

“Thinking about you brother,” NFL legend Barry Sanders wrote in response.

“We are with you Coach!!!!! Love you,” another user wrote.

“2 of the best you could find on earth! Keep loving this family.. they #Rare,” wrote a third.

The 2024 season saw Deion Sanders build Colorado into a conference title contender and ultimately reach their first bowl game in nearly a decade.

Following the season, star cornerback/wide receiver Travis Hunter won the Heisman Trophy en route to going No. 2 overall in the 2025 NFL Draft. His own sons, Shedeur Sanders and Shilo Sanders, signed contracts with the Cleveland Browns and Tampa Bay Buccaneers respectively.

We hope Coach Prime is feeling back to his old self soon.
