A college football player was apparently on his way back from meeting some recruits at a strip club when he was arrested and charged with a DWI this past weekend.

According to FOX 7 Austin, Texas offensive lineman Nick Brooks was arrested this past Sunday after he was caught going 47 miles per hour in a 30 mph zone. Brooks reportedly told the arresting officer that he had been at a 21-and-up club that “makes exceptions” for Texas football players.

Brooks said that he was taking “two prospective players” to the strip club afterwards.

The Texas offensive lineman admitted to smoking a marijuana vape pen and a blunt before getting into his car. He failed a sobriety test and reportedly had body tremors that were noticeable to the officer when they asked him to stand on one leg.

Police found a vape pen in his pocket, with Brooks admitting to taking three hits from it. A breath test did not detect alcohol.

Longhorns head coach Steve Sarkisian released a statement following the arrest:

“We’re aware of the situation with Nick Brooks, have talked with him and are gathering information. We will continue to monitor the legal process and address this situation within the team at the appropriate time,” he said, via Fox7Austin.com.

Brooks himself only joined the Longhorns recently, enrolling in January after signing his letter of intent this past December. He was one of the top offensive linemen in the 2025 recruiting class.

247Sports rated Brooks as a four-star recruit and the No. 238 overall prospect in the class. He was the No. 25 offensive tackle in the country and the No. 33 player from the state of Georgia.

Brooks is probably going to get off relatively easy in the court of law due to his honesty at the time of his arrest. But in the court of public opinion, the verdict is in: He was very foolish.

“He was not drunk or found with anything other than a pen; he was simply talking too much. All his talk will not get him convicted, but he is a dumbass for talking so much,” one user declared.

“Buddy went from a 1 game suspension to possibly kicked off the team,” wrote another.

“The third player in 3 years. Steve Sarkisian gonna need to tighten up. This one’s a True Freshman,” a third noted.

We may find out in short order what Brooks future at Texas will be – or if he even has one.
