Mike Bibby spent 14 seasons playing in the NBA, but he never got his fill of basketball.

In fact, he just got a new job that revolves around the game he loves so much.

According to Shams Charania, Bibby will be the next men’s basketball head coach of Sacramento State.

Considering so much of his career was with the Sacramento Kings, it only makes sense that he returns to the city and helps their young team win.

Bibby was originally chosen as the No. 2 overall pick in the 1998 draft, selected by the Vancouver Grizzlies after spending years playing for Arizona in college.

After a few seasons playing for the Grizzlies, Bibby was sent packing to the Kings, where he averaged 17.6 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 5.4 assists during his seven years with that team.

Following his period with the Kings, he played briefly for the Atlanta Hawks, Washington Wizards, Miami Heat, and New York Knicks before retiring after the 2011-12 season.

Bibby’s career average was 14.7 points, 3.1 rebounds, and 5.5 assists on 43.6 percent from the field and 37.9 percent from the three-point line.

After hanging up his jersey, Bibby stayed close to the game and coached high school ball.

This will be his first job on a collegiate level, and he has his work cut out for him.

Sacramento State has had five head coaches in the last six seasons and would love stability and someone reliable in that role.

Could Bibby be the one who turns things around and delivers what the team needs?

The city cherished Bibby during his years playing for the Kings, and they will surely welcome him with open arms as he starts this new endeavor.
