One NFL team is reportedly taking a flier on the biggest player in this year’s class after he went undrafted.

Per FOX Sports insider Jordan Schultz, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wasted little time reaching out to Florida’s Desmond Watson — signing the 6-foot-5, 464-pound defensive tackle UDFA deal.

Watson says he’s aware that he’s going to need to lose weight to get on an NFL field and its a challenge the former three-star recruit is willing to take on.

“It’s been like my same problem — not problem, but my same concern throughout college,” Watson said of his weight in an interview with Greg Auman. “I’m getting more in-depth, getting a better grasp of the things I need to do to be successful at the next level. It’s been interesting. I’ve learned a lot about myself in this process.”

“My biggest thing is keep going, get to where I need to get,” he added. “There are stores and a lot of temptations. That’s helped me immensely: Don’t go inside the gas station. Pay at the pump. Because inside, it’s snacks and all types of things like that.”

Auman reports that Watson’s contract is worth $50,000 guaranteed with the opportunity for an additional $20,000 bonus.

With his massive size he’s definitely someone that could plug the middle in Todd Bowles’ defense. But it’s a matter of making sure his conditioning and weight are right in order to still be athletic with that kind of frame — and also for his overall health.

He’ll definitely have some fans rooting him on in his home state as he attempts to make his NFL dream a reality.

The Bucs also signed Shedeur Sanders‘ brother, Shilo, to an undrafted free agent agreement after he didn’t hear his name called over the three-day span of draft festivities.
