Giannis Antetokounmpo Breaks Silence on Alperen Sengun’s Controversial Comments—What He Said Will Shock Fans

So, Giannis Antetokounmpo just dropped jaws—and not just with a slick dunk or a monstrous block. The Bucks’ hero took a subtle jab at Houston’s Alperen Sengun, who suggested Giannis isn’t much of a passer. Now, I’ve gotta ask—can skill alone truly silence the critics, or does it take a statement performance? Well, Giannis answered loud and clear on the EuroBasket stage, blending dominance and finesse in a way that left the doubters eating dust. It’s one thing to say you “let your game talk,” but when your stat line looks like a masterpiece—30 points, 17 boards, six assists, and more—it begs the question: who’s really handling the ball better here? Let’s dive into how Greece’s pride carved out a medal for the first time since ’09 and how Giannis turned a sideways comment into a career highlight reel.

Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo just made his home country of Greece proud at the EuroBasket tournament, and he wanted to send a message.

Antetokounmpo heard Houston Rockets star Alperen Sengun say he wasn’t a good passer, and he took offense to that.

When asked about it, Antetokounmpo made it clear that he isn’t looking to defend himself with his words, but rather his skills.

“I’m a guy who doesn’t like to talk a lot, you know I let my game talk. I’m going into my 13th season in the NBA. I’ve won everything. Everything. I’m not the guy that will talk back to coaches or players or people that say bad things about me. It doesn’t really matter because, at the end of the day, you won’t remember what they say. You will remember how I respond,” Antetokounmpo said.

For the first time since 2009, Greece walked away with a medal at EuroBasket.

They might not have won gold, but Antetokounmpo is still very happy with what his team did and how he was able to show off for his country.

During their last game against Finland, he was able to put up 30 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, two blocks, and a steal.

He hardly looked like someone who didn’t know how to pass.

Antetokounmpo became the first player over the last three decades to combine for 30+ points, 15+ rebounds, and 5+ assists in a EuroBasket game.

Surely, Sengun’s words were motivating the Bucks star to perform at his best.

It’s important to note that Sengun also said that Antetokounmpo is an “amazing player,” so he obviously respects him.

But Antetokounmpo still had something to prove, and that is exactly what he just did.
