Gunnar’s Clutch Two-Run Blast Sparks Unbelievable Late Rally Against White Sox, 4-2!
This game wasn’t a walk in the park mind you—don’t get me wrong, I wished the Birds had wrapped it up a bit easier against a struggling White Sox pitching staff. Baltimore found themselves trailing 2-1 entering the eighth after a frustrating stretch of offense where five hits and a staggering seven walks hadn’t translated to runs. But oh, did the tide turn. With a lone out, the rookies unleashed a rally: Alexander’s double to right set things off, followed by Ward’s game-tying double that scored the fleet-footed runner. The Sox brought in a lefty to face Gunnar—smart move, but not smart enough—the high sinker was sent flying outta the park, flipping the scoreboard to 4-2 in Baltimore’s favor.
