Left fielder/manager Fred Clarke guided the Buccos to the best record in the majors at 90-49 and the first of three straight National League pennants. Honus Wagner, known as the Flying Dutchman, hit .353 with a league-best 126 RBIs and 49 stolen bases in his second year with the Pirates. Pittsburgh posted the ninth-best offensive TRACR (1.63) we’ve recorded. Deacon Phillippe won a team-high 22 games and Jack Chesbro won 21.
