How Austin Reaves Quietly Transformed the Lakers’ Season in Just Four Unforgettable Games
Ever wonder what it feels like when a relatively unheralded player suddenly carries the weight of a storied franchise? Well, Austin Reaves is giving us the answer, and it’s nothing short of electrifying. With both Luka Doncic and LeBron James sidelined, the Los Angeles Lakers have found an unexpected hero who’s not just filling shoes—he’s rewriting history books. In just four games, Reaves has dropped 143 points, tying a Lakers legend from the ‘60s, which begs the question: Could this be the dawn of a new Lakers era led by an unlikely star? Let’s dive into how Reaves turned a shaky season start into a brilliant showcase of grit and skill, proving why the Lakers’ investment in him might just be the smartest move of the offseason.

The Los Angeles Lakers are currently without both Luka Doncic and LeBron James, but they have been helped out a lot by Austin Reaves.
Reaves has been downright historic during the first four games of the season, according to Mike Trudell.
Writing on social media, Trudell pointed out that Reaves has been playing like a Lakers legend.
“Austin Reaves has 143 points through four games, tying Elgin Baylor (1962-63) for the third most points through the first four games of a season in Lakers history (35.8 per game),” Trudell posted on X.

Reaves has been terrific since Opening Night last week, but he reached a whole other level during the last two games.
He scored a career-high 51 points in a big win over the Sacramento Kings on Sunday and posted 41 points versus the Portland Trail Blazers on Monday.
Sadly, the Lakers still fell to the Blazers, and the Lakers are now 2-2.
The start of this season is more evidence of why Los Angeles has been so smart to invest in Reaves.
He has steadily gotten better, starting as a bench player and becoming LA’s third option behind Doncic and James.
The future is still uncertain for Reaves, and there is a chance that another team is able to swoop in and woo him away from the Lakers in the near future.
But these first four games are a good reminder of why the team should fight incredibly hard to keep him, even if it costs them a lot of money.
Reaves has become vital for this team and has shown his leadership capabilities at the start of this very crucial season.
