Indiana Hoosiers Secure Surprise Commitment from Rising Star Guard Prince-Alexander Moody, Shaking Up Class of 2026!

Indiana men’s basketball coach Darian DeVries landed his first high school recruit, securing a commitment from four-star 2026 guard Prince-Alexander Moody. Moody announced his decision on Instagram.

When a coach like Darian DeVries grabs his very first high school commit, it’s more than just a name on a roster — it’s a signal, a promise of building something solid for the future. Enter Prince-Alexander Moody, a four-star guard from the Class of 2026, who just made things official via Instagram. At 6’4” and 180 pounds, Moody blends the sharpshooting skills of a traditional guard with the versatility to slash to the basket, making him a versatile weapon in any fast-paced offense — a perfect fit for what DeVries envisions at Indiana. His numbers on the Nike EYBL circuit show a player who knows how to take control off the dribble and set up teammates, even if his deep ball still needs work. Coming out of Maryland’s Bishop McNamara, Moody joins a program looking to tighten its grip on the DMV recruiting scene — a domain assistant coach Kenny Johnson knows well. As Indiana braces for several roster spots opening in the next few years, Moody’s multi-year potential and immediate bench-ready skills offer both a near-term role and a foundational cornerstone. In a world where recruiting first commitments can rewrite a team’s destiny, this moment feels like the start of something real. LEARN MORE

Per 247Sports, Moody is the no. 123 recruit in the class of 2026, and the 18th best combo guard in his class. Despite primarily being a shooting guard, but at 6’4”, 180 lbs., he has the size and athleticism to drive to the rim as well.
Moody plays his high school basketball at Bishop McNamara, in District Heights, Maryland, whose recruitment probably began with assistant coach Kenny Johnson’s ties to the area. Look for Indiana to continue recruiting the DMV hard with him on the staff.
On the Nike EYBL circuit, Moody averaged 12.5 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game. He struggled shooting from deep, but looked good off the dribble and as a facilitator for teammates. He also thrived in transition, a good fit for a fast offense like Darian DeVries plans on running at Indiana.
As a composite three-star recruit, Moody projects as a multiple year college player who likely comes off the bench as a freshman. With six players on its current roster in their final years of eligibility, it makes sense for DeVries to start building for the long term.
