Believe me, when that last ping-pong ball rose up, I had visions of the Islanders selecting Long Island native James Hagens to start their turnaround. It makes too much sense! But with all the turmoil around this team now — they don’t, you know, have a GM at the moment — the smart move is to find a cornerstone defenseman.
