Iowa Football Week 8: Unveiling Surprising Bowl Destinations for the Hawkeyes

The Iowa Hawkeyes didn’t just edge out the Wisconsin Badgers in Week 7—they dominated, pushing their season record to a promising 4-2. It’s that familiar pattern under Kirk Ferentz, where bowl eligibility stays firmly within reach. But here’s the kicker: with several winnable matchups still on the horizon, Iowa’s not merely gunning for the mandatory six wins to make a bowl game. No, they’re eyeing something bigger—climbing the ladder to grab a spot in one of those coveted upper-tier bowls. As other programs stumble and the Hawkeyes tighten their grip, bowl forecasts are stirring up a mix of exciting, unexpected possibilities for Iowa’s postseason destination. LEARN MORE

The Iowa Hawkeyes jumped all over the Wisconsin Badgers in Week 7 to improve their record to 4-2 overall on the year and get within two games of bowl eligibility, a staple of this program under Kirk Ferentz.

With plenty of winnable games remaining on the schedule, Iowa should hope not just to make a bowl with the six required wins, but also to boost its bowl status by stacking some wins down the stretch, earning a trip to an upper-echelon bowl game.

With other teams losing around the country and the Iowa Hawkeyes flexing their muscles, this week’s bowl projections are starting to see some shakeups and a wider net of potential destinations for the Hawkeyes this bowl season.
