Colorado head coach Deion Sanders has done a great job with the football program in two seasons. 

He took the program from one win to four in 2023 before leading Colorado to its first nine-win season since 2016. Colorado went 10-4 under Mike MacIntyre that season and lost in the Alamo Bowl.

Colorado finished the 2024 season with a 9-4 record and lost to BYU in the Alamo Bowl. Due to the program’s success under him, the school rewarded Sanders with a massive five-year $54 million extension. 

This new deal makes him one of the 10 highest-paid coaches in college football going forward and college football fans have a lot of thoughts on it.

“13-12 as their head coach, 0-3 all-time in bowl games. Just lost a generational 2-way player and talented QB. But go off I guess,” one fan tweeted.

Sanders had discussions with Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones about the Cowboys’ head-coaching position after they parted ways with Mike McCarthy but Sanders opted to remain with the Buffaloes. 

He will be back on the Buffaloes sideline when they open the 2025 season against the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on August 29.
