Jordan Davis Breaks Franchise Records with Unprecedented Award Streak—What This Means for His Future

So here’s something to chew on—how often do you see a defensive tackle not just stuffing the stat sheet, but rewriting the very history books of a franchise? Jordan Davis, the burly force heating up the Philadelphia Eagles’ trenches, has done just that, snagging both Special Teams Player of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week honors in the same season—a feat nobody in Eagles lore had ever pulled off before. It’s like watching a masterclass in versatility and grit unfold right before our eyes. And honestly, his rise might just be the secret weapon propelling Philly toward NFC East domination and maybe, just maybe, another Super Bowl run. But what’s behind this transformation? Let’s dive into the grit, grind, and unexpected highlights of Davis’s breakout year that’s got Eagles fans dreaming big and opposing QBs trembling.

The Philadelphia Eagles earned a workmanlike win against the Detroit Lions in Week 11 thanks to a dominant performance by their defense. Despite scoring just 26 points total in their past two victories, the Eagles have won four in a row and will look to just about wrap up the NFC East when they visit the Dallas Cowboys in Week 12.

Detroit failed on all five of its fourth-down attempts, and Jared Goff had his worst performance of the season, completing 14 of his 37 passes. A big reason for that was Eagles defensive tackle Jordan Davis, who dominated in the trenches.

Davis was named NFC Defensive Player of the Week after his three pass deflections and made franchise history with a rare awards feat.

“The first player in Eagles history to win Special Teams Player of the Week and Defense Player of the Week in the same season,” the team wrote.

Davis committed himself to getting in better shape this offseason, and it has shown up on the field with 34 combined tackles, three sacks, and six passes defended so far. He also blocked a field goal and ran it back for a touchdown in Week 3 against the Los Angeles Rams, which earned him his special teams honor.

His ascent has given the Eagles the defensive tackle duo they had hoped for alongside Jalen Carter and has fans planning for another Super Bowl win.

The last player to win both of those awards in the same season was Los Angeles Chargers cornerback Desmond King in 2018, and Davis is one of only four to do it in the past 20 years.

If Davis keeps playing like this, he will likely earn himself more awards down the road. He is having a career year and solidifying himself as a pillar of the Eagles’ future.
