Kirk Herbstreit’s Shocking Misstep in ESPN Drama Sparks Behind-the-Scenes Fallout
ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit made one “mistake” in calling out an ESPN coworker this week.
Herbstreit, who played collegiately at Ohio State before covering college football for ESPN and the NFL for Amazon Prime, appeared on the “Net Positive” podcast with John Crist. He called out an ESPN SportsCenter host during his conversation.
He took issue with broadcasters openly cheering for teams, singling out one anchor in the process.
“I don’t think you can cheer when you do games on a national level,” Herbstreit said. “You watch ‘SportsCenter’ and Elle Duncan is sitting there cheering for Georgia. She’s openly cheering. I’m not a fan of that personally. I think it hurts your credibility.”
