Lakers Eye Surprising Heat Veteran Move That Could Shake Up The Season
So, the Los Angeles Lakers pulled one of the NBA’s craziest moves earlier this year by snagging Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks — a player most fans thought would never wear another jersey. Seriously, who saw that trade coming? With Luka now leading the charge alongside LeBron, the Lakers looked like unstoppable title contenders overnight… yet, somehow, they still came up short. Now, as the 2025-2026 season looms, L.A. is sniffing around for fresh talent to amp up their roster. Enter Andrew Wiggins — a player whose journey’s been a bit of a rollercoaster but might just be the missing piece to this high-stakes puzzle. Can Wiggins find his groove alongside Doncic and LeBron and finally help the Lakers hit their championship stride? Let’s dive in.

The Los Angeles Lakers made one of the most surprising trades in NBA history earlier this year, acquiring Luka Doncic from the Dallas Mavericks.
Not only was Doncic someone who many believed would play for the Mavericks for his entire career, but it didn’t seem like he was on the trade block to begin with.
The Lakers and Mavericks were having conversations in the background, which resulted in this massive deal.
Doncic’s presence on the Lakers made them instant title contenders in the eyes of the public, but they fell short of their goals.
As they look to the 2025-2026 season, the Lakers are still looking for a few more players who could add depth to their lineup, which could make them an even bigger force to be reckoned with in the new year.
With that in mind, it appears they are interested in Andrew Wiggins, as reporter Anthony Irwin noted via Legion Hoops on X.

Wiggins has bounced around to a few different teams over the years, but he could be a strong fit on the Lakers, should they pursue him.
He wasn’t at his best in Minnesota, where he needed to be a No. 1 or No. 2 option, but found some success in Golden State, especially, where he didn’t have to be the hero.
Playing alongside Doncic and LeBron James would certainly take the pressure off, and Wiggins could find a sweet spot on this roster where he could be a key contributor down the stretch.
