According to Legion Hoops, Friday night ended LeBron James’ 20-year streak of averaging 25 points per game in a season.

He still did a lot this year, but technically, James did just a bit less for his Lakers.

James is expected to rest for the Lakers’ final game on Sunday, which means his season average will end up being 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists on 51.3 percent from the field.

For many years, he was putting up at least 25 points a game, with his best season being his third when he averaged 31.4 points per game for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

But even many seasons later, James was still reaching 30 points a game.

Back in 2021-22, James averaged 30.3 points for the Lakers.

James has been terrific once again this season, but there is no doubt that he is getting closer to his retirement.

Thankfully for the Lakers, they now have Luka Doncic on board, so the future of the franchise is secure.

James’ output hasn’t diminished that much, and he still has an excellent basketball IQ and does more than just score.

It’ll be fascinating to see what he accomplishes next year and if his numbers continue to slide down slightly.

But before that will come the playoffs, and that is where James always feels in control.
