Lions Shake Up Lineup: Which Star Player Is Shocking Fans With Thursday’s Roster Moves?
So, the Detroit Lions just hit a bit of a speed bump after cruising through a four-game winning streak—losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6, and for the first time this season, failing to crack 34 points. Ouch. Now, we all know defense wins championships, right? Well, the Lions’ D showed some cracks against the reigning AFC champs, which put them in a pinch heading toward a crucial Week 7 showdown with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Cue the roster shuffle: Detroit’s plugging some holes by bringing in safety Jammie Robinson from the Chiefs’ practice squad, releasing rookie defensive lineman Keith Cooper, and slinging safety Loren Strickland back into the mix on the practice squad. With key player Brian Branch sidelined due to suspension, these moves aren’t just tinkering—they’re survival tactics. Makes you wonder: can these fresh faces really steady the ship as the Lions roar toward what could be an NFC Championship preview? Only time—and some gritty football—will tell.

The Detroit Lions suffered a disappointing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 6, which brought a four-game winning streak to an end and was the first time they didn’t score at least 34 points since the season opener.
While the offense fell short, the defense was also a disappointment against the reigning AFC champions.
That unit got some minor reinforcements as the Lions announced three roster moves.
Detroit signed safety Jammie Robinson to the active roster from the Chiefs’ practice squad, released defensive lineman Keith Cooper from the practice squad, and added safety Loren Strickland to the practice squad.

Robinson played in 21 games for the Carolina Panthers over the previous two seasons, including two starts, so he has experience and could be a useful depth player in Week 7 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Safety Brian Branch will miss the game due to the suspension he received following his fracas with the Chiefs, so Robinson’s presence may be needed.
It’s a tough week to be without Branch as Bucs quarterback Baker Mayfield is off to an MVP-caliber start.
Cooper is a rookie undrafted free agent, and he may be able to catch on elsewhere.
Head coach Dan Campbell had mentioned Strickland as a potential replacement for Branch, but he was released shortly afterward, though he has now cleared waivers and is back.
It’s a lot of maneuvering, but the Lions need it as they head into a potential NFC Championship Game preview against the Buccaneers.
