Luka Doncic’s Jaw-Dropping Start Shakes NBA Records—What’s Next for the Rising Star?

Alright, let me ask you this—when was the last time you saw a player light up the court so fiercely that even the legends seem to nod in respect? Luka Doncic, wearing that iconic Lakers jersey, didn’t just win a game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night—he made history. Dropping 49 points, grabbing 11 boards, and dishing out eight assists, Luka became the first Laker ever to start a season with back-to-back 40-point games. That’s a club so elite even Michael Jordan, Anthony Davis, and Wilt Chamberlain bowed before it. Watching Luka dominate with such joy and authority while LeBron James cheers from the sidelines—well, it’s something that puts you right in the moment, feeling the electricity, the hope, and the sheer promise of a season that could shake the NBA to its core. So, is this just a hot streak or are we witnessing the dawn of a true legend? Stick around—there’s plenty more to unpack here.

Luka Doncic of the Los Angeles Lakers was unstoppable on Friday night, leading his team to a robust 128-110 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Doncic was a menace to the T-Wolves, posting 49 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists.

According to Mike Trudell, that makes him the first Laker and fourth player in NBA history to open the season with consecutive 40-point games.

Before Doncic, Anthony Davis did it in 2016-17, while Michael Jordan accomplished it in 1986-87, and Wilt Chamberlain did it in 1962-63 and 1961-62.

Lakers fans were hoping for a stellar season from Doncic, and he has delivered splendidly so far.

Doncic was everywhere on Friday night and was moving with speed, authority, and great chemistry with the rest of his team.

Plus, he looked happy leading his team, which is great news because the Lakers will be without LeBron James until mid-November at the earliest.

But that wasn’t a problem during this game because the team was sensational while James sat on the sidelines, cheering for them.

Austin Reaves was also fantastic with his 25 points, seven rebounds, and 11 assists, while Rui Hachimura was strong with his 23 points.

On top of all that, Deandre Ayton did better than his opening night and others like Gabe Vincent and Jake LaRavia chipped in too.

This was a strong night for the whole crew, but it was Doncic who did the best work.

The season is obviously very young, but there have already been some jaw-dropping performances throughout the league from players such as Victor Wembanyama and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

But Doncic is definitely on the list of MVP contenders, especially after Friday night’s win.
