Michigan State football linebacker Wayne Matthews is a leader of the defense, and someone that the team has relied heavily on for the 2025 season.
This season, while good at times, has also had some scary moments for the Old Dominion transfer. Most notably when Matthews was carted off of the field and taken to the hospital against USC. Since then, though, Matthews has made an outstanding recovery and has gotten healthy enough to make his way back onto the football field.
On the year, Matthews has 46 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss and an interception, showing versatility at the linebacker spot.
Matthews took the podium on Wednesday, speaking to the media about his experiences with the injury, and what it took to get back onto the field following the scary scene.
