The 2023-2024 NBA season has only been wrapped up for less than two weeks, and teams are already planning for the upcoming season.

The draft has already concluded, giving teams even more of an idea of what their roster will look like heading into the 2024-2025 campaign.

While the draft was a great way for teams to add young players, some teams took a different route before the event, hoping to find better luck by trading for veteran players.

The New York Knicks are one example of a massive pre-draft trade.

They determined Mikal Bridges would be a great fit for the organization and orchestrated a trade with the Brooklyn Nets to acquire him.

Fans and analysts have provided mixed reviews in response to this trade, including Mike Breen, who appeared on the “Night Mode” podcast to make his feelings heard.

Breen started the conversation by calling Bridges a “perfect fit” on this team.

He later said, “Crazy you have to give up five firsts, but they’ve been waiting to get the right guy to help be a contender.”

Indeed, the Knicks have seemingly been close to being contenders in recent years, especially in the Eastern Conference, but they haven’t been able to take the leap they have been hoping for.

Bridges could help bring them over the top, adding to an already star-studded, mostly young roster.

Giving up significant draft capital to acquire a player might seem crazy at first, but if Bridges lives up to the expectations that have been placed on him, they will be well worth it.
