Mike Vrabel Drops Unexpected Truth About TreVeyon Henderson That Fans Didn’t See Coming
So here we are, fresh off the Patriots’ first crack at the 2025 NFL season—and oh, what a curious spectacle it was. The hype machine had been revving all summer, with a shiny new coach and some fresh faces sparking dreams of gridiron glory. But then came Week 1, a home loss to the Raiders that jolted fans awake. Among the surprises? TreVeyon Henderson, the dazzling rookie whose touchdown celebrations had us buzzing, found himself tucked away with just a handful of carries. Isn’t it funny how the rookie sensation everyone expected to carry the offense seems to be pacing himself, or perhaps waiting for the right moment to explode? Coach Mike Vrabel’s recent remarks might just signal that Henderson’s moment to shine is inching closer—so, the real question is: how long before this promising talent transforms those flashes of potential into undeniable stardom?

The New England Patriots generated a lot of hype heading into the NFL season.
Many believed they were in for a big year, that a new head coach and some new players on both sides of the ball would result in great success.
The hype train was put on pause in Week 1, as the Patriots lost to the Las Vegas Raiders at home.
It’s never right for a team to panic when it loses the first game of the season, but fans were surprised to see a few storylines play out.
One of the most surprising parts of the Patriots’ season opener was TreVeyon Henderson‘s usage and stat line, as the rookie running back had just five carries for 27 yards.
His six catches were encouraging, though they resulted in just 24 yards, but many thought he’d be a bigger part of the offense.
Yet, Henderson’s time might be coming, if head coach Mike Vrabel’s recent comments are any indication.
“We gotta give him some space. … [He] tried to play fast. We gotta open up some holes on the kickoff return too. We gotta use that as a weapon. … [He’s] gonna keep working and he’ll be a big part of what we do,” Vrabel said.

Henderson was a top prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft, and the second-round pick showed a lot of promise in training camp and the preseason.
If he gets more opportunities as the season goes on, there’s no telling what his future could hold, especially if second-year quarterback Drake Maye continues to develop as well.
