I’m not quite ready to say they’ll snag a playoff berth, but there are going to be times when no team wants to play the Buccos in an important series. Facing Paul Skenes, Bubba Chandler and Braxton Ashcraft or Mitch Keller on back-to-back-to-back nights won’t be fun at all. It’s a good thing the pitching staff has a lot of swing-and-miss because the defense will be rough, but the Pirates added some veteran bats (Brandon Lowe, Ryan O’Hearn and Marcell Ozuna), and if Oneil Cruz takes “the” leap this year, the Pirates could be a lot of fun to watch.
