Mohamed Salah says the death of Diogo Jota makes him “frightened” to go back to Liverpool following the close-season break.

Jota, and his brother Andre Silva, were killed in the early hours of Thursday morning when the Lamborghini they were travelling in came off the road in the Spanish province of Zamora.

It is believed the pair were heading for Santander to catch a ferry to England after Jota had been advised against flying due to a recent operation.

Salah, one of Jota’s strike partners at Anfield, has joined his team-mates in paying tribute to the hugely popular Portugal international, who was 28, had got married two weeks ago and had three children.
