Claiming a famous fourth Serie A crown last month, Antonio Conte couldn’t have dreamt of a better maiden campaign after returning to Italy’s elite last summer.

Gaining a string of plaudits from across the continent during the 2024/25 campaign, Napoli were also handed a major boost as the former Chelsea boss announced that he would be staying put in Naples.

With their sights already set on defending their domestic title next season, the Azzurri have already enjoyed a sensational start to the summer transfer window.

Confirming the arrival of ex-Manchester City icon Kevin De Bruyne on a free transfer this month, Napoli are planning another Premier League raid this summer.

Watching the likes of Scotland international Scott McTominay make an immediate impact since arriving at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium, Conte’s men are eyeing even more Premier League superstars.

Darwin Nunez – Liverpool

With Liverpool officially announcing Florian Wirtz’s arrival at Anfield last week for what was a club-record fee of £116million, it is no secret that the reigning Premier League champions are desperate to balance their books.

Drastically struggling to find a regular spot since Arne Slot’s arrival on Merseyside last summer, it appears that Darwin Nunez’s departure is almost a certainty over the coming weeks.

While the former Benfica starlet might have competed a blockbuster £64million switch to Anfield back in the summer of 2022, Nunez has largely failed to live up to that hefty price tag.

Only recording five Premier League goals last season, the 25-year-old has often become a figure of ridicule around Anfield and is reportedly desperate to clinch a permanent move away this summer.

Despite continued speculation over a move to the Middle East, it was reported last weekend that the Uruguayan international is keen on linking up with Conte and his priority is to secure a Naples switch.

With personal terms not expected to be an issue, it has also been suggested that Liverpool are actively looking to get Nunez’s reported £140,00-per-week wages off their books.

Jack Grealish – Manchester City

While Pep Guardiola might have been filled with praise for Jack Grealish during Manchester City’s Club World Cup adventure in the United States, the England international was left at home and is expected to be forced out of the Etihad exit.

Despite arriving in Manchester for a record-breaking fee of £100million four years ago, the former Aston Villa skipper has largely struggled to find any kind of fluidity under Guardiola’s guidance.

Mustering just a single Premier League goal last season, the 29-year-old also only registered a sole minute of top-flight action since the end of April.

With it appearing that his career is at a real crossroads, Grealish is reportedly no part of Guardiola’s plans for next season and the Sky Blues are even willing to allow the 39-cap international to leave on loan.

Looking to kickstart his career away from the Etihad this summer, it has been reported that Conte is a long-term admirer of the City playmaker and Napoli are keen on striking a potential deal.

While Grealish’s reported £300,000-per-week wages might be a stumbling block, the City outcast could see McTominay’s redemption arc as a real inspiration.

Matt O’Riley – Brighton

Although Matt O’Riley might have endured an injury riddled first campaign among England’s elite last season, the former Celtic starlet impressed many around the south coast during his first 12 months.

Completing a permeant switch from Glasgow last summer for what was a reported fee in the region of £25million, the one-time MK Dons youngster was considered to be quite the coup for Brighton.

However, with suggestions over the past year that the 24-year-old hasn’t fully adjusted to life in the Premier League, it was reported last week that Napoli have already begun discussions with the Seagulls over a deal for another one of their midfield stars.

With Napoli signing Scotland international and ex-Brighton ace Billy Gilmour last summer, the two clubs do have a positive relationship and a deal could be reached over the coming weeks.

While the Amex hierarchy might believe that O’Riley is going to be an important part of Fabian Hürzeler’s plans for next season, the Seagulls have not rebuffed Napoli’s advances and it is believed that they would be tempted to accepting a reasonable offer should the Danish international wish to leave.
