The joint practices between the New York Giants and New York Jets have provided plenty of storylines this week.

Veterans are working to secure their spots while rookies battle for roster positions. One first-year player has consistently caught the attention of insiders throughout the sessions.

Third overall pick Abdul Carter has made his presence felt during these competitive practices.

The Penn State product entered camp with high expectations after dominating the Big Ten with his pass-rushing ability.

ESPN’s Peter Schrager appeared on ‘The Pat McAfee Show’ and offered his assessment of Carter’s early performance against the Jets.

“I’m telling you, I don’t want to exaggerate, I know it’s preseason, No. 51 on the Giants, Abdul Carter is just absolutely everywhere, guys. Now, that’s nothing against Max Mitchell, who was lining up against him. Abdul Carter was in the backfield the entire day, … flying all over the field. He looks unblockable,” Schrager told Pat McAfee.

Carter led the Big Ten in sacks and tackles for loss during his final college season. That production translated into being selected early in April’s draft.

Giants defensive coordinator Shane Bowen has praised the rookie’s speed and versatility since arriving in New York.

The linebacker showed his ability against Buffalo in limited action. He generated three quarterback pressures on just three pass rushes.

Dallas Cowboys star Micah Parsons took notice and praised Carter’s performance.

Carter’s workload increased as the joint practices continued. He showed his burst against both left and right tackles while consistently disrupting offensive plays.

His strong showing reinforced what many analysts believed coming out of college. Carter appears ready to contribute immediately and could lead a revitalized Giants pass rush this season.
