NFL Week 13 Shocker: Unbelievable Stats and Game-Changing Moments You Didn’t See Coming
Week 13 of the NFL season sure served up a wild cocktail of jaw-dropping plays and head-scratching moments that got me thinking—how does a team bounce back when the scoreboard tells a story of heartbreak and heroics side by side? The Los Angeles Rams learned that lesson the hard way against the Carolina Panthers, stumbling 31-28 as turnovers and defensive slip-ups bit them hard. Yet, amid the chaos, Davante Adams just keeps defying expectations, hauling in touchdown after touchdown like it’s his personal mission to rewrite the record books. Seriously, how does one receiver snag nearly 27% of his catches as touchdowns in today’s game? If there’s one thing Week 13 proved, it’s that while teams may falter, a scorer like Adams throws a huge wrench into the playoff calculus—and for fans who crave excitement, that’s pure gold. Like every weekend on the slate, Week 13 of the NFL season had some incredible performances and some wildly perplexing outcomes. We take a look at some of the highlights, lowlights, news and stats.
Davante Adams Can’t Stop Scoring Touchdowns
It was not a good day for the Los Angeles Rams.
The Carolina Panthers played one of the most impressive games of the season, taking down the Rams 31-28. Matthew Stafford uncharacteristically had three turnovers and the Rams defense continued to let Panthers receivers beat them down the field on crucial plays.
But one silver lining for the Rams was Davante Adams continuing to find a way to reach the end zone. The Rams knew they were getting an elite short-yardage receiver when they signed Adams. But even they have to be surprised at just how often he is scoring.
Adams caught another two touchdowns, giving him a league-leading 14 receiving touchdowns. He’s already tied for his second-most touchdown receptions in a season behind the 18 he had with the Green Bay Packers when he led the league in 2020.
The Rams haven’t needed Adams much to get them into scoring position. But when they’re close to the end zone, he becomes the No. 1 option.

Fourteen of Adams’ 52 catches (26.9%) this season have been for a touchdown. That’s the second-highest percentage of catches for touchdowns (minimum 10 touchdowns) for any player since 1990, behind Julius Thomas’ 12 touchdowns on 43 catches (27.9%) in 2014 for the Denver Broncos.
With the loss, the Rams fell to second in the NFC playoff standings behind the Chicago Bears. But with Adams teaming up with Nacua, they should still be regarded as the most dangerous team in the conference.
