NHL Free Agency 2025: Which 10 Blockbuster Contracts Are Redefining the Game?
Brent Burns, Colorado Avalanche
Contract: $1 million x one year (plus performance bonuses)

Burns is slowing down now that he’s 40. His point production on the power-play collapsed last season and he was inconsistent defensively at times in the regular season. With that said, he still ranked top-50 among NHL defensemen at producing five-on-five points and is an elite penalty killer.
