Jeff Petry’s two-year run with the Red Wings was a rough ride. He was a shadow of the top-four stud he had been for most of his prime, with declining offense, injuries and deteriorating foot speed eating away at his effectiveness. He’s 37 and needs to be insulated, but there are reasons to believe he could have a renaissance year and significantly outperform his league-minimum base salary.
