NHL Rumors Heat Up: Shocking Moves Brewing Among Senators, Kings, Canadiens, Blues, Oilers, and Sherwood!

When it comes to shaking up their forward lines, the Ottawa Senators are clearly not sitting still. The team’s front office is actively scouting the landscape, eager to beef up their top-six or even top-nine forwards — you know, hunting for that elusive spark to push them further. It’s a busy time for whispers and calls, with Ottawa itching to find out who’s on the trading block and just how steep the price tags are. Meanwhile, across the league, the center market is proving to be as tight as ever, with the Los Angeles Kings’ Phillip Danault drawing multiple inquiries. The Montreal Canadiens are also quietly probing possibilities, including a surprising look at Jordan Binnington, while Edmonton’s Oilers promise not to botch their pending restricted free agent situation again. And the interest in Vancouver’s Kiefer Sherwood isn’t fading either — teams are circling, weighing offers and extensions like hot commodities. This swirling ocean of deals and deliberations paints a vivid picture of a league restless with ambition and strategic maneuvering. Interested in diving deeper? LEARN MORE

The Ottawa Senators are looking to upgrade up front

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: The Ottawa Senators would like to upgrade their top-six or top-nine, and they’re checking in with teams as to who might be available and what the asking price is.

Teams interested in Los Angeles Kings center Phillip Danault

Frank Seravalli: Sources are saying that trade interest in Los Angeles Kings center Phillip Danault has picked up, as the center trade market is thin. Multiple teams have inquired about Danault.

NHL Rumors: New Jersey Devils Interested in Ryan O’Reilly

Would the Montreal Canadiens look at Jordan Binnington?

NHL Rumour Report: David Pagnotta on Inside Sports on the Montreal Canadiens: “They’ve had a lot of talks with St. Louis ; we haven’t heard too much about Jordan Binnington and Montreal, but I do wonder with the Habs kind of exploring things, if that’s an avenue they at least inquire about.”

The Edmonton Oilers won’t repeat history and lose a pending RFA to an offer sheet

David Staples of the Edmonton Journal: Bob Stauffer said that the Edmonton Oilers won’t lose pending RFA forward Matthew Savoie to an offer sheet this offseason and that he’ll sign a bridge deal.

“Here’s the reality with Matt Savoie. The Oilers will not make the same mistake with Matt Savoie that they made with Philip Broberg and Dylan Holloway. Matt Savoie will be bridged. He’s represented by Edmonton’s Gerry Johansson. Stan Bowman will get ahead of this. Mark my words. They will get a deal done on an extension at some point here with Matt.”

The Oilers shot themselves in the foot during the 2024 offseason when they spent too much in free agency and weren’t able to match the offer sheets from the St. Louis Blues.

NHL Rumors: Vancouver Canucks Didn’t Want the Quinn Hughes Conversation Now

Kiefer Sherwood interest continues

Pierre LeBrun of The Athletic: The Minnesota Wild, Montreal Canadiens, and Dallas Stars have kicked tires on Vancouver Canucks forward Kiefer Sherwood.

Was told late last week that the Boston Bruins haven’t had talks with the Canucks about Sherwood, though he would make sense for them. There is the Rick Tocchet connection for the Philadelphia Flyers, but was told they haven’t spoken, and the Flyers are pretty deep on the wings and there isn’t really a fit.

An extension as part of trade would interest some teams.
