A lot of noise and speculation surrounding the New York Rangers and Artemi Panarin
TSN: There is a lot of noise and speculation around the New York Rangers and GM Chris Drury, according to Darren Dreger. Artemi Panarin is a pending UFA with a full no-movement clause. What direction will he, and the Rangers want to go in?
“Is he willing, if there is no extension that is willing to be negotiated, is he willing to present a list? And how short is that list?
You always look at the normal teams; the Florida Panthers, the Dallas Stars, the Golden Knights, maybe there’s a couple of other teams that would express interest in the star that Panarin is.
But if he doesn’t present that list, and he decides that there is an extension or isn’t an extension that works for him, he could absolutely walk into free agency and the Rangers get nothing in return. That would be worst-case scenario for Drury and the team.”

New York Rangers Trade Tiers
Peter Baugh and Vincent Z. Mercogliano of The Athletic: With the way things have been going for the New York Rangers, they’re looking like sellers by the trade deadline.
They’re still not completely out of it, and a league source has said that GM Chris Drury has been looking to add a top-nine forward with some offense. They’re looking to do some selling, with an eye on a retool and not rebuild.
The Rangers could sell some assets for younger players who might be able to play immediately. They could also look for assets to use in future trades.
Pending UFAs – Artemi Panarin (would likely want at least a first-round pick), Carson Soucy (likely a mid-round pick), Jonny Brodzinski (late-round pick), Jonathan Quick (20-team no-trade and may want to stay), and Conor Sheary (on the LTIR and little value).
Change of Scenery Candidates – Brennan Othmann, Brett Berard, Alexis Lafreniere, and Braden Schneider.
The Hottest Commody – Vincent Trocheck – The 32-year-old has three years left at $5.625 million. Would take a first-round pick and a good prospect. There’s no indication the Rangers want to move, and it would signal a larger teardown. He has a 12-team no-trade list.
Shorter-Term Options – Sam Carrick, Taylor Raddysh, and Urho Vaakanainen.
