NHL Shakeup: Why Colorado and Dallas Might Be Racing to Land Evander Kane Before It’s Too Late
The buzz around Vancouver Canucks’ Evander Kane isn’t just locker room chatter anymore — it’s turning into serious trade speculation. Rumors swirling suggest the forward’s agent, Dan Milstein, has been given the green light to start conversations with other NHL teams, signaling the Canucks’ intent to explore options. While trade chatter is nothing new, the timing here might lean more toward the trade deadline rather than a pre-Olympic move. Teams like Colorado and Dallas have reportedly shown interest, keeping the door open for a potential playoff-bound destination for Kane. With the Canucks looking for at least a third-round pick and possibly willing to retain salary to sweeten the deal, it’s a delicate dance that could shift with just one call. Keep your eyes peeled, because this one’s still very much in flux, with plenty of intrigue left to unfold. LEARN MORE

Mike Rupp: “Elliotte, if we head out to Vancouver, we saw Kiefer Sherwood, and we figured some more to come. Any updates with Evander Kane?
Friedman: “Yeah, so Kane was kind of amused about the scrum around him . Rick Dhaliwal, who’s one of the reporters out there, and indicated that his agent, Dan Milstein, has now has permission to talk to teams. And I think we’ve known for some time now that they would like to move him, and I think he would like to go to a playoff team.
You know, like, there’s Kevin Weekes, I think reported Colorado and Dallas were up there. I definitely think those teams have shown some interest.
But I always hate to say this, because one phone call can change things, but it appears likely that he might be a post-Olympic break deal at this point in time. You know, we’ll see. They’re playing night. We’ll see if he does something that interests people, but at least earlier ]Tuesday], that was kind of the word I was getting.
I think the Canucks are hoping for, like, a third-round pick or something like that. You know, (Carson) Soucy just went for a third rounder. They’re willing to retain if it allows them to get a bit more, drive the price of that up. But that’s kind of what they’re looking right now.
Earlier today, I was hearing likely after the deadline. Although I always hate saying things like that, because it’s really easy to make me look stupid.
