NHL Standoff: Will Kyrou or Thomas Be the Surprise Exit from St. Louis?
It’s a classic dilemma playing out right before our eyes in St. Louis—a roster riddled with talent, but a front office seemingly ready to shake things up in a big way. You’ve got Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas, two young guns who’ve sparked plenty of chatter. The burning question: who’s sticking around when the puck drops next season? Doug Armstrong’s Blues have been teasing the market, slapping jaw-dropping price tags on these guys like they’re rare collectibles. And honestly, I’m intrigued—Kyrou seems like the odd man out, despite being just 27, while Thomas, with a pricetag that’s nothing short of astronomical, is tempting some serious interest, especially from teams like the Canadiens. But here’s the kicker—the Blues aren’t just talking the talk; they want to see which team’s got the guts and assets to meet their lofty demands. Meanwhile, other names like Brayden Schenn, Justin Faulk, and Mathieu Joseph are quietly swirling in the trade rumor vortex. This isn’t just chatter—it’s a sign the Blues may be reimagining their core, controlling the narrative as they go. So, buckle up, Blues fans—it’s shaping up to be an intriguing offseason filled with tough decisions and high stakes.

NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues Are Open For Business
Host: “Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas, the likelihood of both of them out of St Louis between, I’ll make it easier for everybody between now and October of 2026.”
Dave Pagnotta: “Well, look at the prices. The price is very high. Astronomical as one team told me for Thomas. Now, maybe that’s just because the Blues don’t like anything on their team, and it’s not going to work. But some teams that have poked around, they’ve been told, No, it’s not going to work with you, because we don’t see the pieces.
As I said, I think one of two, for sure, won’t be there next year. I’d be very surprised that Kyrou is on that Blues team next season. As for Thomas, they want a Kings Ransom, and deservingly so. And I mean, look, if I’m any team, including the Habs, I’m poking on that because he’s a player that not only can play the dot, but he can also contribute on the right side, and certainly a target for the Canadiens.
NHL Rumors: St. Louis Blues and Robert Thomas
I would imagine that caliber player, and they have the assets I would imagine to do it, it’s just a matter of if they want to. And maybe that modifies the overall game plan a little bit. I think maybe it’s Kyrou more of a focus, because I think I know the prices is less, but St Louis is listening on almost everybody. And it’s a little surprising considering Kyrou’s 27, Thomas will be 27 this year, but they’ve got their new plan in place.
They’re going to look to see how they can move guys out, and that includes (Brayden) Schenn, (Justin) Faulk, Mathieu Joseph and others. But we’ll see what ends up happening there. But long-winded answer, I apologize, but I think, I think Kyrou won’t be in St. Louis next year, and Thomas, it’s just a matter of which team would step up with what would have to be an astronomical type of deal.”
NHLRumors.com Note: The St. Louis Blues continue to make everyone available at their prices. This has been the case for Robert Thomas and Jordan Kyrou since last season. You can add Brayden Schenn into that mix as well. Current GM Doug Armstrong always tried the same tactic with message sending, making his players available but never trading them. It feels like now the Blues could be moving on from these young players. However, they have control over where they want to go.
