Last summer’s excitement quickly gave way to a string of surprises: a 4-star talent, Jonas Williams, initially pledged his loyalty to the Ducks only to pivot away and join the USC Trojans. That was just the start. Oregon found itself heavily favored to snag the top quarterback in the class, 5-star Jared Curtis, but fate had other plans as he opted for the Georgia Bulldogs. Shaking off that setback, Oregon pressed on and became the favorite for another 5-star QB, Ryder Lyons, though BYU ultimately swayed him toward Provo. In the end, the Ducks landed Bryson Beaver, a fast-climbing 3-star QB recruit whose rise through the ranks has been nothing short of meteoric. Recent updates from On3/Rivals spotlight Beaver’s thrilling leap from outside the radar to the sixth-ranked quarterback nationally—a testament to how quickly fortunes can change in the football recruiting game. This rollercoaster is far from over, and Oregon fans are rightfully on the edge of their seats. LEARN MOREOn Monday, On3/Rivals released their latest recruiting update, and Beaver was one of the biggest risers. After initially being rated as a 3-star and outside of the On300 and the No. 19 QB in the class, Beaver rose to No. 44 in the nation, and the sixth-best QB in the class. This is not the first big ratings bump that Beaver has seen. Shortly before he committed to Oregon, he was moved from the No. 71-ranked QB in the nation, per 247Sports, to the No. 17 QB.

Ultimately, Oregon secured a commitment from Bryson Beaver, a fast-rising quarterback prospect rated as a 3-star recruit by most recruiting sites. Not for long, though.

Recruiting at the quarterback position has been a rollercoaster for the Oregon Ducks in the 2026 class, to say the least.

Last summer, Oregon got a commitment from 4-star QB Jonas Williams, who later backed off and flipped to the USC Trojans. The Ducks were then considered a favorite to land 5-star QB Jared Curtis, the No. 1 passer in the class, but he chose the Georgia Bulldogs instead. After missing on Curtis, Oregon took over as the favorite to land 5-star QB Ryder Lyons, but the BYU Cougars were able to get him to choose Provo over Eugene.
