Packers’ Secret Weapon Under Fire: What Went Wrong Against the Browns?
Ever notice how a Green Bay Packers flag waves with such pride, yet sometimes the team’s special teams unit does anything but inspire confidence? I mean, you expect the cheers, the touchdown dances, the glory at Lambeau—but what about when the game slips right through your fingers because the kicking game turns into a fumble? Under Matt LaFleur, the offense hums along and Jeff Hafley’s defense has blossomed into something formidable. But special teams? Well, that’s been the party pooper after their Week 3 stumble against the Cleveland Browns. ESPN Milwaukee’s Steve True didn’t mince words, questioning if that unit’s actually improved. And honestly, after a blocked game-winning field goal left the door open for a Browns walk-off, it’s hard not to wonder: Can Green Bay’s special teams shake off this cold snap before their Super Bowl dreams freeze over?

The Green Bay Packers‘ offense has always been fine under head coach Matt LaFleur.
Their defense took a huge leap last season in the first year with Jeff Hafley as coordinator, and it has gotten even better.
Unfortunately, that hasn’t been the case with their special teams.
That’s why, after losing to the Cleveland Browns in Week 3, ESPN Milwaukee analyst Steve True called out the unit for its woes.
“Has our special teams gotten any better? It’s early, but it’s not trending the way we had hoped,” True said.

Coordinator Rich Bisaccia’s unit has been a talking point too many times in the past.
While kicker Brandon McManus has been reliable, the unit as a whole has been an issue.
It cost Green Bay when it mattered most, when Cleveland blocked what could’ve been a game-winning field goal.
That left the door wide open for the Browns to win with a walk-off field goal by Andre Szmyt.
Granted, multiple kicks were blocked around the league in Week 3, and that will be something every team will adjust to.
But when a team has Super Bowl aspirations, it can’t afford this to become a recurring issue.
The Packers should be 3-0, and this loss stings because they seemingly had it in the bag.
So, as much as the Browns deserve all the credit in the world for the way they executed late in the game, Packers fans can’t help but feel that they let one slip away.
