But Finebaum caused people to roll their eyes at him when he declared that SMU is “the most corrupt program in college football” because it was handed the death penalty back in 1987.
As much as fans wanted to agree with Finebaum and crush Lashlee, they found his rebuttal even more cringey.
“I’d say Penn State’s scandal was worse than SMU’s. Dude had to bring up a scandal in 1987 (almost 40 years ago btw) to cement his argument. It’s not that serious Finebaum,” one user remarked.
