Raiders’ Jackson Powers-Johnson Sidelined by Concussion: What This Means for the Season
Jackson Powers-Johnson’s name popped up on the Raiders’ injury report Friday, and, well, it’s not the kind of news fans were hoping to hear right before the Chargers showdown . The starting right guard sat out practice nursing a concussion — and since he was a ghost on Thursday’s injury list, exactly when he got dinged remains a bit of a mystery. Honestly, given how these things go, it looks pretty doubtful he’ll clear the concussion protocol in time for Monday night’s clash, leaving veteran Alex Cappa to fill those hefty shoes. Meanwhile, tight end Brock Bowers is taking a knee himself — or at least his knee is keeping him sidelined for a second straight day, pushing Michael Mayer and Ian Thomas up the depth chart. On a slightly brighter note, linebacker Elandon Roberts, nursing an elbow, dipped into limited practice Friday after missing Thursday’s drill. It’s a lot to digest as the Raiders scramble to piece things together…
The Raiders added starting right guard Jackson Powers-Johnson to their injury report Friday.
He did not practice Friday with a concussion.
Powers-Johnson was not on the injury report Thursday, so it is unknown when he was injured.
It seems unlikely that Power-Johnson would pass concussion protocol before Monday night’s game against the Chargers.
Veteran Alex Cappa would start for Powers-Johnson.
Tight end Brock Bowers (knee) did not practice for a second consecutive day.
Michael Mayer and Ian Thomas are behind Bowers on the depth chart.
Linebacker Elandon Roberts (elbow) returned to limited work Friday after missing Thursday’s session.
