Raiders WR’s Shocking Trade Demand Sends Shockwaves Through NFL Locker Room

So here we are, with the Las Vegas Raiders cruising through a season that promised fireworks but so far delivered more fizzle—and isn’t that the eternal question in football? When you stack the deck with big names like Pete Carroll, Chip Kelly, and Geno Smith, shouldn’t expectations be sky-high? Yet, the reality on the field feels more like a desert mirage than a touchdown parade. Now, Jakobi Meyers is pulling the classic “if the deal ain’t right, I’m outta here” card just as the trade deadline creeps closer. And honestly, can we blame him? With contract talks dragging like a bad halftime show and the team stumbling through a disappointing campaign, Meyers’ yearning for a Patriots reunion makes a lot of sense. But here’s the kicker—the clock’s ticking, the Raiders need to decide: hold on or cut loose? It’s a tricky balancing act between loyalty and logic… and I’m glued to see which way this saga swings.

The Las Vegas Raiders entered the season with high hopes and expectations.

Hiring Pete Carroll as their head coach and bringing in coordinator Chip Kelly and quarterback Geno Smith on offense were expected to make a big impact.

So far, that hasn’t been the case.

That’s why, with the NFL trade deadline approaching, Jakobi Meyers recently reiterated his desire to leave Las Vegas.

“Oh, for sure,” Meyers said. “But I’m a professional at the end of the day. I’m just trying to play good football. If I’m here, I’ll play good football. If I’m not here, I’ll go out there and play wherever I’m supposed to be.”

Meyers requested a trade before the start of the season.

He wants a contract extension, and with the Raiders seemingly dragging out those talks, there wasn’t much of an incentive to stay for much longer.

A return to the New England Patriots sounds like the most logical outcome for Meyers.

He’s familiar with coordinator Josh McDaniels’ offense, up to the point where he followed him to the Raiders when McDaniels was their head coach.

The Patriots have had some success with Stefon Diggs as their WR1, but they don’t seem to have a reliable option besides him and tight end Hunter Henry.

The Raiders have been one of the most disappointing teams in the NFL this season, and while there’s still time to turn things around, the trade deadline is on Nov. 4.

As such, they might have no choice but to move on from Meyers are look toward the future.
