Announced recently by Tech athletics, Harrell is set to join the prestigious Texas Tech football Ring of Honor — an accolade reserved for the program’s most legendary figures. Mark your calendars for October 25th, when during the showdown against Oklahoma State, Harrell will officially have his name etched into the West Stadium Building at Jones AT&T Stadium, solidifying his place in Red Raider lore. Harrell will be formally inducted during the Oct. 25 home game against Oklahoma State. He is set to become the 12th member of the Ring of Honor and have his name displayed on the West Stadium Building of Jones AT&T Stadium. A formal ceremony is slated for Oct. 24 before Harrell is inducted during halftime of the game the next day.In January, Harrell was selected to be part of the 2025 class of the National Football Foundation College Football Hall of Fame, where he will be inducted Dec. 9 in Las Vegas.A fourth-place finisher in the 2008 Heisman Trophy voting, Harrell holds Texas Tech records for 300-yard games (33), 400-yard games (20), career passing yards (15,793), touchdowns (134), attempts (2,062), completions (1,403), games with four or more touchdowns (15) and games with five or more touchdowns (eight).
His 5,705 passing yards in 2007 ranks third all-time in FBS history and Harrell remains in the top five of seven statistical categories, including career passing yards and touchdowns.

Harrell is currently the offensive coordinator at Abilene Christian and has held positions at North Texas, USC, West Virginia and Purdue in his coaching career. As a professional, he earned a ring for the Green Bay Packers’ win in Super Bowl XLV, where he served as the team’s backup quarterback for three seasons.
Harrell amassed a number of achievements in his player career, leading the Red Raider offense that also featured Michael Crabtree. He earned the Sammy Baugh Trophy in 2007 and won AT&T All-America player of the year and Sports News co-player of the year in 2008. Harrell also earned first team All-America honors by the American Football Coaches Association for the 2008 season in which he passed for 5,111 yards and 45 touchdowns.”We are proud to celebrate not only Graham’s induction into the Ring of honor this season,” director of athletics Kirby Hocutt said in the news release, “but also his selection to the College Football Hall of Fame.
